Time scarcity

Affirmation List to turn Time Scarcity to Time Abundance

Affirmation List to turn Time Scarcity to Time Abundance

I hope you’re well! Today, I have a treat for you – a downloadable list of empowering time affirmations! But first, I hope you don’t mind me sharing…

Dean and I just got back from a quick trip to Utah to surprise our ‘diplo-daughter’ when she flew in from India. She’s in the foreign service so has been working at the Embassy in Chennai, India and we haven’t seen her in 2 years! She thought we’d see each other when we’re in back in Utah in 2 weeks (which we will), but we decided it would be a great fun (and it was!) to be at the airport with flowers, balloons, and posters! She was completely surprised…and a bit jet-lagged. I’m really happy we chose to take that last minute trip and not miss out on that special time.

Time scarcity

And speaking of time, let’s get on to this week’s message:

Last week on a Zoom call with my SimplyAlign Practitioner Community, someone sent in a question about “time scarcity”. One of our practitioners said she has so much she wants to do and feels she is often behind.

She asked what I personally do to get so much done. Truth be told, others don’t see everything I WANT to get done, only what actually gets done. I too, often feel behind with all my ideas of what I’d like to get done. Like you, I’m balancing dreams with what realistically gets checked off my list.

So, here’s what I’ve picked up to give my days a bit of a stretch. These are tailored to my business/work life, but I’m sure you can tweak them for whatever you’re up to.

1. Evening Unload: Every night, before bed I take just a few minutes and quickly jot down all the thoughts swirling in my head (aka: brain dump). It’s like a mind cleanse. It helps me sleep better, and preps for a fresh start in the morning.

2. Top Three Focus: From that list, I choose three things for the next day. I usually end up doing more, but focusing on these three helps me stay on track and not feel overwhelmed with too many tasks.

3. Acknowledge Wins: At the end of the day, I reflect, give myself credit for things accomplished, and remind myself that I’ve done enough. I literally say to myself, “You’ve done enough for today”. There’s always more, but it’s important to celebrate progress.

4. Idea Priority Check: When new ideas or opportunities pop up, I rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. If it’s an 8, 9, or 10, it’s worth considering. If it’s not, I know how easily something new can steer me off course. Those 8s and 9s can distract me from my 10s -so being aware of that is super helpful! Clear 10s make it to my list.

5. Boost with Positivity: And here’s my secret sauce – SimplyAlign. It helps me shake off any thoughts of not having enough time, it releases limiting patterns, and keeps me grounded and confident in my goals.

For that call with my SimplyAlign Community, I put together a PDF of TIME AFFIRMATIONS that I’m sharing with you too! I’ve attached it here – take a peek and print it off if it’s helpful.

Wishing you more time for all that brings you joy ~

Consent

Don’t Consent to This!

I’m here with a quick message today from my friend, Eleanor Roosevelt –

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”

I love this statement and have referred to it many times over the years.

Consent

(And isn’t it cool that our shoe color matches?)

The definition of consent is: permission, approval, or agreement.

We can’t control what anyone else says or does, but we can always choose how we’ll respond. We can let it roll off our back, or give those words and actions permission/approval to settle in.

The emotions we choose to “feel” about another’s comments are created within us because of our own thoughts about what they said.

I know that can sometimes seem like a hard concept, but it’s really so empowering to realize that it’s our own inner thoughts that create our emotions, because words spoken by someone outside of us (an external circumstance) can’t do that.

Keeping our inner thoughts positive lessens the chance of us “consenting” to feel inferior over someone else’s words or actions.

Here are 10 tools to positively fortify your thoughts:

*Limit time with negative people

*Set and keep healthy boundaries

*Always assume good intent

*Do more of what lights you up

*Create a list of personal affirmations -and declare them daily

*Keep a gratitude journal

*Live in alignment with your values

*Keep your word to yourself and to others

*Create good self-care habits

*Practice Self-Compassion

In today’s world we may not always find compassion, tenderness, and empathy, but we can be willing to give it to ourselves.

Pick one thing from this list that you can do more of this coming week.

Much love,

Carolyn Cooper

How Well Do You Navigate the Holidays?

How Well Do You Navigate the Holidays?Take a big, deep, beautiful breath: the holidays will be here before you know it. For many of us, this time of year brings with it the joys—and challenges—of family gatherings, gift exchanges, and holiday festivities. The good news is that with a little planning and thoughtfulness, you can navigate the holidays with grace.Take this self-quiz to see how ready you are for this year’s holiday season.

True or False?

1. I start planning for the holidays early so that I’m not on overdrive throughout December.

2. When my family is making plans, I make a point of negotiating what I really want to do and where I’d like to spend each holiday.

3. If my family exchanges gifts, I joyfully give what I can afford and enjoy giving. I stick to my budget.

4. I make sure that I eat healthy food that I enjoy every day. This may require me to take care of my own meals or contribute to meal planning and preparation.

5. When I accept a party invitation or a request for my time, it’s because I genuinely want to—and have the energy to participate wholeheartedly. I know how to say “no” to invitations I don’t want to accept. I don’t beat myself up about it or let myself get “roped in.”

6. I recognize the need for downtime and breaks, so I don’t fill my schedule to the brim with events, shopping and other holiday preparations.

7. I value my important relationships and give them the time and energy they need and deserve. If this means that I go to fewer gatherings outside of my immediate circle, so be it.

8. I don’t dwell on the changes in my family that make me unhappy or sad. I accept the way things are now, and enjoy the loved ones around me.

9. In the lead-up to the holidays and during the holidays themselves, I do something that I find fun or pleasurable every day.

10. The holidays are a time to appreciate loved ones and express my spirituality. I make a point of noticing what’s good in my life, and feel gratitude for those things.

If you answered false to more than four of these, you may want to consider ways to make this holiday season more enjoyable and less stressful.
