Carolyn's Comments

Merry Christmas from my home to yours! I hope this finds you well and happy this Holiday Season!

As many of you know, I live in the desert of southern Utah. We usually only get one little skiff of snow each winter. Last Saturday was the day! We woke up to a little bit of snow and it was beautiful! Now I am (finally) officially in the ‘holiday spirit’!

Last month I promised you that the new Calyco Healing website would be up soon. Hmm…I guess I better address that….

Several months ago I began working on a new website because, although I really like my current site, it had what I thought were some insurmountable problems on the back-end. Then, the right person showed up and could fix everything on my current site, plus add all the new options such as audio and video pages that the new site was going to have.

So, I will be sticking with my current site, making a few changes, and adding in some fun new features in the upcoming weeks.

So the moral to this story is: Sometimes the grass is greener right where you are!

Group Phone Sessions

Two of the most popular group session topics are coming up in January. I hope you can join us!

Daytime ~ Thurs. Jan 7th 11:00 am Mtn time
Topic: Weight Loss

Evening ~ Wed. Jan 27th 7:00 pm Mtn time
Topic: Finances

Energy Healing Basics Clean & Simple Tele-course

Due to popular demand, the date of the next Energy Basics Tele-course has been moved up 6 weeks. The next class will now begin on Feb. 2nd.

If you are new to energy healing, this is a great way to learn a lot about it via tele-phone in the comfort of your home!

Believe me, there are many “interesting” ideas being taught in this field of Energy Medicine. It is very important to me that those starting on a path of healing have a solid foundation from which to move forward. This class will give you clear, concise information without all the mysticism, just the simple, clean basics of energy healing.

All calls will be recorded to listen to at your convenience and class also includes several handouts each week.

Featured Article: 10 Tips for the Holidays

The holiday season is upon us. Decorating, family gatherings, shopping for gifts, traveling, cooking, and baking are in full force. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most stressful time of the year. Many of us feel happy during the holidays, but trying to keep up with work and personal life can make us feel stressed and fatigued.

Here are 10 ways to easily manage holiday stress so you thrive this holiday season:

1. Breathe: When you find that your mind is racing and you’re on go, go, go mode, take a breather. Focus on your breath. If it’s hard to concentrate on, imagine a calming color when you breathe in and visualize it permeating your body when you breathe out. A great time to do this is when you’re stopped at a red light. Turn off the radio, focus on the light, and breathe until the light turns green.

2. Go to sleep early: This may seem difficult with so much going on, but going to sleep early just one night of the week will do wonders for your energy and your mind. Forget the dishes; go to bed and do them in the morning.

3. Holiday cards: Do they stress you out? If you run out of time to mail your holiday cards this year, why not surprise your family and friends by sending them one sometime later in January for the New Year? There is no rule that says you have to send them out in December. It will be one less thing you have to get done before the holiday. I’ve even skipped sending them at all a few times, and guess what? It was okay!

4. Exercise: Do movement that you love. If you’re enjoying your exercise, then you’ll most likely stick to it now, when you really need it for stress management. Find an activity to clear your head and energize your body, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. Go outside for a brisk walk, or dance around the house to your favorite holiday music.

5. Personal time: Treat yourself to regular daily quiet time. Have a cup of your favorite herbal tea and sit by the window. Dab lavender oil or lotion on your wrists or temples, breathe in, and relax your muscles. Take a warm bath after everyone has gone to bed and soak in some candlelight. Read your favorite book.

6. Delegate your to-do list: You don’t have to do it all on your own. Hire a cleaning service to clean your house. Give everyone in your household a holiday job. Ask others to help you with gift ideas for hard-to-buy family members.

7. Shop for gifts the easy way: Instead of going to the stores to shop, why not shop online this year? It not only saves you gas, but it also saves time. One of my favorite places for unusual but well received gifts is www.AmazingClubs.com. You purchase anything from desserts, to peanut butter, to salsa, etc. to be delivered to the person quarterly or monthly. Then print out a gift card and you’re good to go. That means yes, you can do it at the very last minute! It can be a little pricey depending on which club you sign up for. Last year I got my husband (who is really hard to buy for) the Lobster of the Month Club. I just got the 3 month deal, so 3 times during the year he got, delivered to our door in dry ice a couple big, fat lobster tails! He loved it, and was TOTALLY surprised with that one!

8. Pamper yourself: Schedule a massage or a favorite “me time” activity for the day after your holiday festivities or the day after your relatives leave. Just knowing that this appointment is waiting for you will definitely lift some of your shoulder tension.

9. Holiday eats: This is the time of year when sugar-based dishes are served more than ever. Check in on how much sugar you’ve eaten. Food creates your thoughts, moods, feelings, energy, and stress levels. Try adding in foods that decrease stress—like whole grains, vegetables, dark leafy greens, beans, fish, and nuts.

10. Have fun: No matter how your holiday season goes, remember to laugh, have fun, catch up, and be grateful for everyone who has touched your life. When you have an attitude of gratitude, your body and mind will leave you feeling healthy, happy, and whole.

We all have a lot of extra activities going on at this time of year, so it can be stressful, if we allow it to. Be aware of how you react to it and how you’re managing it. When you add these steps to your life, you’ll begin to realize that it can be easy to manage stress during the holiday season.

Carolyn Recommends: Peppermint Cream

Still looking for the perfect gift? My dear friend, Jonelle is the owner of Herbalogie.com.

She has put together "The Perfect Gift" Kits , and I love them! They are great for men or women, and come wrapped, alI ready to give! I especially love the peppermint cream because it is perfect for dry hands and feet and has a wonderful refreshing tingle to it. All of the products at Herbalogie are 100% Natural. No preservatives, fillers, or chemicals. In a world surrounded by pollutants, it is nice to know we can choose to use healthy and wonderful products for the care of our families.

Closing Thought

…Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas….perhaps…means a little bit more!”

And what happened then…?
Well…in Who-ville they say
That the Grinch’s small heart
Grew three sizes that day!

Best wishes for a great holiday season as we EXPAND our hearts and reach out
to others!

Warmly,
Carolyn

P.S. I personally celebrate Christmas, but many of my friends, clients, and subscribers are celebrating Hanukkah, so Merry Christmas AND Happy Hanukkah, my friends!
